Swim Spa Installation
Aquatic Fitness Concepts provides the ultimate portable aquatic fitness system – a versatile swim-in-place and year-round lap pool designed to help you obtain total wellness. These swim spas can be installed in a number of ways. Their SteelStruct frame can be installed above- or in-ground, and you can take the entire unit with you if you ever decide to change residences.
The following is a summary of our swim spas’ basic installation requirements*
Concrete Pad. The swim spa must be fully supported by a concrete base. Although conditions at the installation site will determine the exact support requirements, in general, for installation on soil that will support a 1,000 psi load, the base must be 6 inches (15 cm) thick with a #4 rebar on 18 inch (46 cm) centers (please see Doc 138 and 199 below). Please contact Aquatic Fitness Concepts for more information on adequate installations. Damages resulting from inadequate support are not covered by warranty.
Excess Water. During normal use of the swim spa, large amounts of water can splash out of the unit. Additional provisions may be necessary to remove excess water, depending on how the spa is installed.
Clearance Access. In order to access your swim spa for servicing and upkeep, there must be 36 inches (92 cm) of space surrounding the equipment compartment and 24 inches (61 cm) around the remaining area.
Ventilation. If your swim spa is installed indoors, you must ensure proper ventilation for humidity control. Also, for safety issues, it is important to cover your swim spa at all times when you are not inside the unit. Please contact an HVAC professional to ensure that your installation complies with mandatory requirements as stated in the HVAC application handbook (ASHRA 1999b).
Voltage. You need a dedicated electric line of 240 V.
*Please note: the installation and planning recommendations above are intended only as suggestions and cannot replace advice or service by a licensed contractor. In accordance with safety laws and regulations, a licensed contractor must install every AFS model. A warranty voidance can result from failure to follow proper installation instructions.
